About Us

Established in 2013, Graham Ranch LLC is owned by Ross Graham and Shelley Otness of Springfield, IL. They have been successfully raising and showing Quarter Horses for many years in central Illinois and are now sharing their love of quality horses with others who have the same passion.

Graham Ranch is conveniently located just five minutes from I-55 and 15 minutes from the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Our sophisticated facilities and innovative equine therapy make Graham Ranch an ideal home for show horses and rehabilitating horses alike.

Shelley Otness

At the age of 3, Shelley won her first major horse completion in Seattle, Washington at the Nile Temple National Horse Show. During her early childhood and high school years she showed horses on the West Coast and Canada with prestigious wins in Arizona, California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta Canada. She was the Appaloosa Horse Club of America National Champion and Jr. Princess before switching to Quarter Horses in 1976. She won many Stock Seat medal classes, including American Horse Show Assoc., and International Horseman’s Assoc. She placed 3rd at the 1982 American QH Assoc Jr. World show in Tulsa Oklahoma in Western Riding. As a young adult, she trained and showed several AQHA Champions as well as an All-time Leading AQHA point earner in the late 1990’s. She also has had several National High Points in the National Snaffle Bit Assoc. (NSBA) Non-Pro Western Pleasure and several Top 10 placings at the AQHA World Show in Amateur Showmanship, Amateur Horsemanship, Amateur Western Riding. Most recently she has been Top 5 at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in the Am. Western Horsemanship. She has been Top 10 in Am. Performance Halter Geldings at the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City. She has coached her Father to two Top 10 finishes in Amateur Select Performance Halter Gelding at the AQHA Amateur Select Championships in Amarillo TX.

Ross Graham

At an early age Ross began showing cattle and accumulating top wins across Illinois and surrounding states including the prestigious shows such as the North American. As a late teen and early adult, he competed in the rodeo circuits all over the Midwest as a very talented saddle bronc rider. After years spent in the rodeo, Ross changed his focus to competing in Cattle Penning and Ranch Sorting where these competitions took him, once again, all over the Midwest, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Kentucky, and many states in between. Ross won the Denver National Stock Show, North American Stock Show, Kentucky State Fair, Cheyenne Rodeo, and major Penning competitions in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Florida to name a few. He has been to Amarillo, Texas many times to compete and secure multiple wins as the United States Team Penning Average Champion. Mr. Graham has also earned the American Quarter Horse World and Reserve Champion many times and has well over 20 Top 10 finishes in the AQHA Amateur and Open Team Penning and Amateur and Open Ranch Sorting in Oklahoma City, OK.
When not in the saddle, Ross is on the tennis court as a professional tennis coach at the highest level. He teaches all ages and levels of tennis at Springfield Racquet and Fitness Center and Illini Country Club. Ross has taught many young athletes that have gone on to the top of the tennis ranks nationally.
